Prince Myshkin has always been one of the main mysteries of Russian literature. Back in 1869, Dostoevsky created a great contradiction: he builds up a story about a definitely excellent person and called it "The Idiot". And for more than 150 years, directors, scientists, artists, actors have been fighting over the Myshkin complex, trying to reveal its strange and mysterious nature.
Andrey Prikotenko brings the action of the famous novel to the present day and offers his own view of its events. In the version of the "Stary Dom", each character in this story acquired the Myshkin complex and became the material of the investigation. One thing is certain: Myshkin is the one who provokes the disclosure and exposure of all the heroes. But who is he himself?
"Imagine that Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" was decided to be processed by the Netflix corporation. That all the roles are played by actors endowed with a truly Hollywood shine; that the text of the novel has been completely rewritten in modern language, and there is a tough psychological motivation behind every word. Having one of the best acting troupes in Russia, the "Stary Dom" theatre is not afraid of the serial length: after all, "The Idiot" is a truly action-packed performance... The director Andrey Prikotenko is interested not so much in metaphysics as in the paradoxes of human characters, the fuse of passion and the limit of weakness".
