On the wave of the 20s
We recommend that gentlemen wear a tuxedo, and ladies — a cocktail or evening dress. Be prepared not only to listen to music but also to dance to it!
A new meeting with the charming singer and conductor Alex Mendham, who conquered the audience of the festival in 2016. The musician, together with his orchestra, will perform a new programme, part of which will be Russian romances of the 1920s. Like last time, dancing is welcome!
Alex Mendham and his orchestra play Golden Age music of jazz, but with modern energy and passion. Their performance of the works of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and other favorites of the era takes the audience to the times of the Great Gatsby — in the turbulent 1920s and charming 1930s.
The 11-member orchestra is a resident of the famous Savoy and Ritz hotels, and this year makes a transatlantic trip on the Queen Mary 2 liner. Musicians preserve the sound and style of vintage Hollywood, playing authentic instruments of the time and wearing original tuxedos.
The orchestra is often invited to television and films. For example, members of the collective can be seen in such famous television films as Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge.
