"In recent days, our wonderful city has been embellished with bright festive colours of the Platonov Festival. This is yet another confirmation that art is able to overcome not only time, but also difficult circumstances. I am pleased to give this award to Mikhail Vladimirovich Bychkov for the creation and holding of such a wonderful event as the Platonov Festival, for his many achievements in the field of culture and art", the head of the region emphasized.
Mikhail Bychkov thanked the Governor and the Award Council for the high assessment of his achievements.
"The wording which the award was presented with - for the creation of an innovative theatre and festival movement in the homeland of Andrey Platonov - is very important and unusual for me. It reflects what I have been doing for the last 30 years in Voronezh, and directly relates to what I do as a creative person, as an artist. And this is the Platonov Award. It means that there is some peculiarity in it, which is present in everything which the name of Andrey Platonov is connected with.
This is not the first award in my life. But for me it is associated with an "artistic" conscience and civic responsibility. I perceive this event as a very important stage in my life, because this award will become for me a point of reference against which I will check my work both as a director and as a theatre director, and as one of the organisers of the Platonov Festival, as a citizen and a patriot", noted the laureate.
