The programme of the video screenings "World Theatre on the Screen" ended with the showings of the performance "The Government Inspector" of the New Riga Theatre (Latvia) directed by Alvis Hermanis based on the work of the same name by N.V. Gogol.
Alvis Hermanis is a Latvian theatre director, artistic director of the New Riga Theatre, which under his leadership has become one of the most famous theatres in Europe and in the world.
It was the performance "The Government Inspector" that brought world fame to Hermanis back in 2002. The performances "Long Life" ("Golden Mask" for the best foreign performance, 2007), "Sonya" based on a story by Tatyana Tolstaya and "Sound of Silence", invited to the most prestigious festivals, were equally successful.
Before the second screening of the performance, an online meeting was held with the theatre actor and performer of one of the main roles of the play Gundars Abolins - Soviet and Latvian theatre actor (New Riga Theatre) and film actor, performer of roles in the performances "Sonya", "The Government Inspector", "Old Love" and etc.
Exhibitions in the Kramskoy’s Art Museum ("Alexander Drevin and Nadezhda Udaltsova. Painting, graphics" and "Mikhail Prekhner. Photo avant-garde of the 1930s"), in the Chamber Theatre Gallery ("Foundation pit" by Sergey Baranov) and an exhibition in the Chizhov Gallery Centre (Andrey Parfenov "Platonovfest. To the city and the world") continued their work.
